QUEBEC | The author and actress Catherine Dorion briguera once again the votes in the riding of Taschereau, at Quebec, this time wearing the colours of Québec solidaire.
Dorion was chosen Thursday with 59 % of the votes cast by the members of the training policy. She faced Marie-Ève Duchesne.
“Together, today, we are going to work hard and intelligently to bring about a society where human happiness, the inner wealth and the love of the territory are at the centre of concerns. Such a society is possible with the proposed country of Québec solidaire,” it said in a statement that the new candidate.
Catherine Dorion has presented to national Option in this constituency in the last two general elections. She had obtained 7.4% of the vote in 2012, and 4.2% of the vote in 2014.
Marie-Ève Duchesne had collected 15 % of votes, four years ago, in this constituency considered to be a strong castle pq since 1994. “Even if I am not elected, I sincerely believe that my knowledge of the terrain and the issues dear to the party will enjoy for the next election campaign that awaits us next fall,” said dr. Québec solidaire bet big on this district and believes it can make a breakthrough in Quebec. “The people of Taschereau have chosen a candidate who has heart and who has demonstrated a commitment to social justice and independence,” said the spokesperson of Québec solidaire, Manon Massé.
The riding of Taschereau is represented for 20 years by the member pq’s Agnès Maltais, who announced in mid-January that she will not seek a new mandate.
The liberal Party of Quebec, it is Florent Tanlet, who will be the candidate again. He had lost by 451 votes in the face of Ms. Maltais, during the last election in 2014.
