OTTAWA – The federal government announced on Wednesday the auction in march 2019 for spectrum licences for wireless services.

The auction of the spectrum band of 600 MHz will allow to increase the competition within the market, stated the minister of Innovation, Science and economic Development, Navdeep Bains.

Well, “43 % of the spectrum will be reserved for regional competitors and new potential suppliers,” said Ottawa.

Subject to these restrictions, the large companies canadian wireless telecommunications that are Bell, Rogers and TELUS were opposed to the idea during the consultations.

According to the ministry, the regions of the country where the competition is strongest are those in which wireless services are the least expensive. Ottawa wants to improve the quality and coverage of cell phone services as well as lower prices.
