Seven-time winner on the lawn of london and holder of 18 titles Grand Slam, Federer has increased his record to life 85-11 career at Wimbledon.

London — To collect the 85th victory of his career at Wimbledon and make history Tuesday, Switzerland’s Roger Federer has not had to sweat a lot.

 

Federer reached the second round of the International Wimbledon after only 43 minutes of action on centre court when the Ukrainian Alexandr Dolgopolov withdrew during the second round because of an injury.

 

Federer was leading 6-3, 3-0, and took the time to realize the 10, 000th ace of his career.

This 85th triumph allows him to double the American Jimmy Connors for the most wins lifetime at Wimbledon since the debut of the professionals in the major tournaments in 1968.

 

A little earlier on Tuesday, on centre court, the Serbian Novak Djokovic had spent even less time on the ground. His opponent, Martin Klizan, has said package after only 40 minutes of the game due to an injury when he fired to the back 6-3, 2-0.

 

Djokovic, triple champion of the English tournament, was leading 30-0 in the third game of the second set when the Slovak has given up the pursuit.

Raonic passes its first test

In the second round, Raonic will face the veteran Russian Mikhail Youzhny, 82nd best player in the world, who has defeated the Frenchman Nicolas Mahut, 6-2, 7-5, 6-4.

 

Later on Tuesday, his fellow countryman Vasek Pospisil has suffered elimination in three sets, 6-4, 6-4, 6-3, in the hands of the Austrian Dominic Thiem, the eighth-seeded, in 1: 55.

 

Holder of the 73rd largest in the world, Pospisil has managed seven aces, one less than Thiem, and has registered more hits (29) than unforced errors (19).

 

The athlete from Vernon, British Columbia, has also completed 58 % of his first serves in, compared to 49 % for Thiem. However, the Austrian 23-year-old has won 88 % of points when he put his first ball in play, while Pospisil had to settle for a success rate of 73 %.

 

For its part, the Canadian Bianca Andreescu, who is only 17 years old, has a curved ridge in the face of the Slovak Kristina Kucova, winning 6-4, 6-3 in an hour and ten minutes.

 

On Monday, Montreal’s Françoise Abanda has earned his ticket to the second round by virtue of a victory of 6-2, 6-4 at the expense of the Japanese Kurumi Nara. Eugenie Bouchard of Westmount, and the Ontario Denis Shapovalov, have undergone the process of elimination.
