Fire in a seniors ‘ residence in Terrebonne

TERREBONNE – A residence for the elderly has been the prey of the flames, in the night from Saturday to Sunday in Terrebonne.
The fire broke out around 1: 30 a.m., he would have taken birth on the back of the three-storey building, located on the rue Saint-Louis in Terrebonne.
43 residents with reduced mobility had to be evacuated in the middle of the night.
12 people were transported to a hospital after inhaling smoke.
One of them was treated for severe burns, and there are fears for his life.
This violent fire has mobilized nearly 70 firefighters from Terrebonne but also Blainville, Repentigny, Sainte-Anne-des-Plaines and Sainte-Thérèse.
The residence Oasis has sustained heavy damage.
An investigation was opened to determine the cause of the fire.
“Following the preliminary analysis of the scene, the items recognized by the fire department we suggest an origin of suspicious nature,” explained Benoît Bilodeau, the Service de police de Terrebonne.
A request for assistance has been made to the Sûreté du Québec for a technician, stage fire. Investigators will be on-site to analyze the scene and meet with witnesses.
