Pierre Turgeon becomes the assistant coach of the Kings

Los Angeles — The Los Angeles Kings have announced the appointment of the ex-hockey player Pierre Turgeon to the position of assistant coach John Stevens.

In a press release, the Kings specify that Turgeon will be in its infancy to a position of coach in the national hockey League. He joins a staff that brings together Dave Lowry, Don Nachbaur and the instructor of the guards Bill Ranford, who will begin his 12th season with the formation of california. He retired at the end of the 2006-2007 season.

Turgeon had his best campaign with the Islanders in 1992-1993, amassing 132 points, including 58 goals in 83 matches. During this same season, he won the trophy Lady-Byng, awarded to the player with the most gentleman. He also experienced a campaign of 106 points (40-66-106) with the Sabres of Buffalo in 1989-1990.

First player chosen at the session of selection in 1987, Turgeon was traded to the Islanders at the Canadian on April 5, 1995 with Vladimir Malakhov in return for Kirk Muller, Mathieu Schneider and Craig Darby. Some 18 months later, he was transferred to the Blues, in the company of Craig Conroy and Rory Fitzpatrick against Shayne Corson, Murray Baron and a pick overall.

With the Canadian, Turgeon has participated in 104 meetings, scoring 50 goals and 77 assists for 127 points. In 1995-1996 with the Habs, he finished the year with 96 points, including 38 goals in 80 games.
