Canada has won the bronze medal in the 4x100m relay mixed Wednesday, with the world swimming Championships in Budapest, Hungary.

The canadian team consisting of Kylie Masse, Richard, Funk, Penny Oleksiak, and Yuri Kisil covered the distance in 3 minutes and 41.25 seconds, 2.69 seconds behind the winner, the American.

Matt Grevers, Lilly King, Caeleb Dressel and Simone Manuel took away the honors of the final held in the evening, after having easily eclipsed the mark of 3:40,28 carried out by an american quartet completely different — Ryan Murphy, Kevin Cordes, Kelsi Worrell, and Mallory Comerford — during the preliminaries in the morning.

Australia finished second, followed by Canada and China, ex-aequo.

New discipline in the OJ

The mixed relay has been added to the program of the World of swimming, two years ago in Kazan, Russia, where the United Kingdom had established the previous mark of 3:41,71. This event will be part of the olympic program for the first time at the summer Games in Tokyo in 2020.

In total, seven world records have been made this year at the World championships in Budapest.

A little earlier in the day, the attempt of Katie Ledecky to award six gold medals at the swimming world Championships ended in a failure, when it was beaten by italy’s Federica Pellegrini in the 200m free style.

Ledecky is merely the silver medal, tied with the Australian Emma McKeon.

McKeon has been a starting gun, but Ledecky joined at the last turn. And then, out of nowhere, Pellegrini has arisen in front of them and touched the wall in 1:54,73.

Ledecky and McKeon crossed the distance in 1:55,18.

Disappointment

It is a disappointment for Ledecky, who had never lost in 12 races over the course of the last three World swimming. She had already earned three gold medals in Budapest. This silver disc means that it can match the brand’s women’s six gold medals his compatriot Missy Franklin, established at the World championships in 2013.

Standing in the bleachers of the Duna Arena, the Hungarians have encouraged their favorites, including Katinka Hosszu, who also participated in the 200 m free, and Laszlo Hesc, competing in the 200 m butterfly. Hosszu has never worried about its rival, and she finished in seventh place, more than a second and a half of Pellegrini. Hesc come from behind in the last length, but was not able to join the South African Chad le Clos, who was awarded the gold in 1:53,33. Hesc has climbed on the second step of the podium, and he still took the time to greet the crowd. The Japanese Daiya Seto won the bronze.

On the other hand, great Britain’s Adam Peaty won the 50 m breaststroke, an event, non-olympic, although his time was disappointing. After having set new marks in the world during the preliminary and semi-final — he has signed a time of 25,95 seconds, Peaty has made the second best time of the story 25,99. Brazil’s Joao Gomes Junior has finished second, in front of the South African Cameron van der Burgh.

At the end of the evening, the Italian Gabriele Detti has managed the best performance in the world this year in the 800 m free in under his lap time of 7:40,77. He took the lead in the order of poland’s Wojciech Wojdak (7:41,73) and his fellow countryman Gregorio Paltrinieri (7:42,44).

The Chinese Sun Yang, the title holder over the distance, therefore, did not achieve the hat trick of 200 m-400 m-800 m. He finished fifth.
