Ten years after the disappearance of Cédrika Provencher, his mother and his sister have agreed to entrust to TVA News to the point on the events.
The disappearance has finally been proved, years later, a murder when the bones of Cédrika Provencher were found by chance in December 2015 in a wooded area of Saint-Maurice, a few kilometers from Trois-Rivières.
The mother of Cédrika Provencher, Karine Fortier, wishes to know the truth, and especially that the murderer is tried for his crime.
“It is not normal to spend all this time without knowing what happened to your daughter. We spent nine years in the doubt, not to know. It is known that she died, but what happened?”
The urn which contains the ashes of the old girl is now in the family home. “It was important for me. She returned to the house,” adds Karine Fortier.
For the sister of Cédrika, Melissa Provencher, it is also vital that justice is done.
“To me, it will rest in peace when someone will be behind bars, he will be accused for what he has done. This is where I’ll be able to do my grieving. By then, it will not happen.”
Despite the pain and the trauma, it is important for the mother to continue to move forward for her children, which Cédrika, to whom she made the promise to never lower the arms.
“In what has been experienced, if we want to continue to move forward, it gets priority, and we learn that we cannot have control on everything. This is a situation where one has no control. Which is much more sensitive, it is Christmas, his feast day, the feast of his sister and his brothers,” concludes Karine Fortier.
