The chinese automobile manufacturer Great Wall is in the process of negotiating the purchase of the Jeep with FCA (Fiat Chrysler Automobiles).
This news comes barely a week after the Automotive News has published a paper about the
redemption of FCA by chinese manufacturers. Now the situation clears up little by little.
Great Wall seems deadly serious in his approach. Indeed, note that the president who sits at its head, Wang Fengying, ranks seventh of the most influential women of Asia according to Fortune magazine. In addition, the purchase of the brand
Jeep would help the chinese manufacturer to achieve one of its goals : to become the largest manufacturer of SUVS in the world.
The redemption of the Jeep would be a giant step for Great Wall, who wants to get into the american market. Recently, it has notably been installed in Detroit and Los Angeles in order to analyse the north american market.
The interest behind the Jeep does not go back to yesterday. Let’s remember that Chrysler had bought AMC for the sole purpose of keep the brand Jeep. The proof of this? Jeep is more alive than ever, whereas, CMA is just an old memory.
According to statistics from Automotive News, Jeep would have, in 2008, just before Sergio Marchionne becomes the CEO, sold about 500,000 units around the globe. Last year, more than 1.4 million vehicles sold. The growth is rapid and thus it can be understood the interest of Great Wall want to purchase this banner. .
In the event that the agreement is signed, we would be concerned for the future of FCA. Given that it is expected that Maserati and Alfa Romeo will become independent brands, there would be only Dodge, Fiat, Chrysler, and Ram. This last is undoubtedly the branch more profitable.
