Even if everything indicates that security cameras filmed a man pointing his gun toward the officers before they fired on him, the Office of the independent investigations has dispatched, in full holiday, a team particularly large Monday in Montreal-North.

Services 11 investigators have been necessary when a robbery has gone wrong, Monday morning.

Shortly after 9 a.m., a taxi driver called 911 to report that a client had been threatened with a weapon, and had stolen the contents of his cash before fleeing.

The driver, who was still in line with the 911, followed the robber for a distance of approximately 300 metres. The police arrived, the suspect was hiding in a bus shelter on the boulevard Pie-IX, near the street of Charleroi.

According to preliminary information made public by the Office of the independent surveys (EIB), a little more than two hours after the events, a man of 26 years was always armed and would not have cooperated when the officers asked him to get rid of his weapon.

He also allegedly “made a gesture in the direction of the police officers,” according to the EIB, and it is at this time that the officers opened fire. The young man has been reached once.

He was taken to the hospital, where the doctors did not fear for his life.

    Video

The scene is played just a service station Pie-IX boulevard, where eight cameras record continuously.

According to Cynthia Bergeron, assistant manager of the institution, the angle of the camera allows to film the bus shelter where the thief was when it has been reached by the agent.

“We will provide the images, and they could see the whole scene,” said the woman, who however had not yet viewed the video tape, due to a password problem.

In the course of the last year, the EIB has deployed an average of eight investigators at each of its interventions, according to the calculations of the Log.

On Monday, the agency in charge of investigating the work of the police has sent three more. Because of the Labor day, they were likely to have paid more expensive than usual.

The investigators touch of 80 000 to 110 000 $ per year, based on their experience.

    Death

Since last September, only two interventions that have required the work of more than 10 people and, in both cases, there had been a dead man.

However, at several other events involving death, the EIB has sent fewer than a dozen investigators.

How the body does it to determine how many employees must put hand to the dough ?

It has been impossible to know on Monday, since the office of communications was closed due to the holiday.
