A little earlier this year, Mazda had promised a diesel version of the CX-5 by the end of the year. We now have confirmation that it will not happen.

Questioned about this, a representative of Mazda Canada has confirmed that a marketing of a version with a diesel engine of the CX-5 remained in the plans in North America. However, now we are speaking of an arrival on the market in 2018.

When he finally makes his appearance in dealerships, the new CX-5 will be animated by a turbo diesel engine four-cylinder 2.2-liter that Mazda uses is already in several other markets. Its 150 horsepower has nothing extravagant, but the torque of 280 lb-ft risk of surprise.

For the moment, two engines are available under the hood of the CX-5 in 2017.

The basic version, available from 24 900$, continues to call for a four-cylinder engine, 2.0-litre 155 horsepower and 150 pound-feet of torque. The GS and GX offer for a mechanical unglazed 2.5-liter (187 horsepower and 185 pound-feet).

    The post Volkswagen

Since the famous “Dieselgate” which has cost billions to Volkswagen, the future is rather uncertain in regards to diesel engines. Now that Volks no longer offers such a mechanical in North America, automakers such as Mazda are trying to regain the ball and seduce the customer always in search of this type of mechanics.

General Motors is also trying his luck. The american manufacturer has also recently launched versions diesel the Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain, two vehicles that come into direct competition with the Mazda CX-5

Remains to be seen when Mazda will officially join the dance…
