GRANBY – The transformation of cannabis oil and resin would be the source of an explosion that has injured three people Thursday night in Granby.

The blast occurred around 21 h in the housing at the rear of a building located at the corner of Cowie and Saint-Antoine South.

Four men were in the interior of the housing. Three of them suffered severe burns, according to relatives converged on the scene.

“Two of my friends are burned in the 3rd degree and are at the centre of the burn. All this because of a stupid move like that to turn of cannabis. I hope they will get out of them, testified a young woman, trembling voice.

Another friend has insisted on the risks and dangers of such manipulations. “Everyone knows that to do that in a confined space like this, it’s a ticking time bomb. This is not the first time people get hurt in explosions related to the processing of cannabis.”

The breath of the blast was so powerful that the roof was raised and the ceiling inside collapsed at least a foot. Two of the walls moved outward due to the force of the explosion.

The technicians of the Service of criminal identification of the Sûreté du Québec were expected on scene in the afternoon.
