Long known as the division performance of Volvo, Polestar is now a brand in its own right. And she has just revealed its first model.

The Polestar 1 marks the debut of this brand with its origins in sweden, the production of which will be established in China. Will, however, be patient, since its production will be initiated in 2019.

Polestar may be become a separate entity from Volvo, a simple glance at the new Polestar 1 to understand that the apple has not fallen too far from the tree.

The new hybrid coupe adopts several aesthetic elements that are reminiscent of the popular Swedish brand. In fact, one could almost believe that it is a new Volvo that was removed from the crest to the centre of the grille! Even inside, the resemblance to the Volvo products is striking.

The Polestar 1 is in fact built from the same modular platform which is used in the development of several models of Volvo. Not surprising, therefore, to distinguish an air of family.

Volvo or not, the new Polestar 1 will help to show that electric technology can also be used as a synonym of performance.

Except that with a production that will not start before 2019 and that will be limited to 500 copies per year, don’t expect to see one on the streets of Quebec city tomorrow morning…
