SOREL-TRACY | dog Mira has saved the life of his master disabled caught in a fire that he had just cause accidentally by doing odd jobs in his home in Sorel-Tracy.

The man, who is in a wheelchair in addition to being deaf and dumb, has had a narrow escape. His wife came to bear witness to this history little banal to the issuance of Denis Lévesque, LCN.

“My husband was a bit of welding. He dropped the torch and solder and the fire broke out, told Sylvie Potvin, also struggling with a disability, which forces it to move in a wheelchair. He could no longer see anything. He tried watering it, but it didn’t work. He fell out of his chair, and then, there, it can be saved, because it would have been too much in the smoke.”

While the poor man was on the ground, his dog Mira has led to him to get out of his unfortunate position. “He came to find him the arms, and then [my spouse] has hanging in his hair, and pushing, with one hand, the dog pulled up to the door of the elevator house.

The spouse of Ms. Potvin was then able to open the door before exiting to the outside, where it is expanded in the parking lot, in the rain. It was the Monday of thanksgiving. The delivery of circulars has noticed his presence. The firefighters do not have time to arrive. Nobody had found that there was a fire to start.

The dog is very well trained, recognized, Sylvie Potvin, who has her own guide dog.

It is all a matter of reflex, has qualified the director of the Mira Foundation, Nicolas St-Pierre, on the tv show Denis Levesque.

“The fact that he has returned to see his master, it is a reflex, because it is, in a particular context. There is smoke and fire, then the dog had to say “I’m going to see my master”. He raised his arm. At the same time, he was hooked to the hair. The dog has not panicked, and this is a big deal. Because many dogs could have been panic,” said Mr. St-Pierre.

Yet, the man of Sorel-Tracy has her dog since July. In spite of everything, a close relationship between the animal and the master has already established.

The couple had moved to the hotel following the fire. Fortunately, dogs are allowed. For its part, the spouse of Ms. Potvin is doing quite well. It has no physical consequences, but it is still “a little shocked”.
