Nissan forced to close its factories in Japan

The car manufacturer Nissan has temporarily stopped all production of its vehicles destined for the japanese market for a period of at least two weeks.

In a press release published by the manufacturer, it is indicated that “some of the checks [of quality] have been carried out by technicians who were not properly trained according to the standards of Nissan.”

Nissan must therefore close its factories for the local market to re-inspect 34 000 vehicles built between September 20 and October 18.

According to CNN Money, inspectors of the japanese government were first notified Nissan of this issue last September 18. The manufacturer then said they had taken steps to correct the situation, but a second inspection revealed that the problem had not been resolved.

Note that this cessation of production affects only vehicles built for the japanese market. The assembly line manufacturing of products for the rest of the world, therefore, are not affected.

According to CNN Money, the japanese factories of Nissan daily producing 1000 cars for Japan and another 1,500 for export.
