Huge recall of vegetables in the country

    OTTAWA – The canadian food inspection agency (CFIA) announced on Friday the recall of products from vegetables because of the possible presence of the bacterium Listeria monocytogenes.

    The vegetables in question have been distributed in Quebec and Ontario, but one could find elsewhere in North America.

    Several of the products in question are sold under the brand name of Mann’s in formats ranging from 255 grams and a kilo. It is vegetables that are ready to eat, but also delicious salads and full meals based on vegetables.

    Some vegetables are also distributed under the brand Compliments and other under the brand Western Family. The full list is published on the CFIA web site.

    Mann’s has published a press release to clarify that it cooperates fully with canadian and u.s. authorities in the context of this recall.

    The CFIA is asking people who have purchased these products not to consume them. “Check to see if you have the products covered by the recall at home. If this is the case, throw it out or return it to the store where they were purchased,” wrote the Agency, by issuing a press release.

    No case of disease has so far been reported related to this recall, but it must consult with her physician if symptoms occur after consuming these products, including vomiting, nausea, fever, persistent muscle pain, severe headache and a stiff neck, has detailed the CFIA.

    Pregnant women, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems need to be more cautious than the other.
