The research on the internet in Canada have been dominated in 2017 by a natural disaster and the wave of denunciations of abuse and sexual harassment on the part of well-known personalities.
Little data are also representative of the trends of the company as those published by Google as part of its review of the year.
Hurricane Irma and its powerful images of destruction have dominated the research both here and around the world. The actress Meghan Markle, betrothed to prince Harry, as well as the singer Tom Petty arrives to the second and third ranks of Google searches of the year in Canada, ahead of the Ottawa Senators, and North Korea.
In the category “personalities”, four of the five names that make up the top 5 are from the movement of denunciation that followed in the case of Harvey Weinstein in the United States. It is he who dominates this record in front of the facilitator forfeit Matt Lauer and actor Kevin Spacey. This classification also allows to see that the case of Éric Salvail, was echoed throughout the country, who ranks fourth.
In terms of entertainment, “13 Reasons Why” has been the television series the most sought after, while the horror film “It” arrives in head to the cinema.
No surprise, Donald Trump arrives at the summit of politicians, in front of the new heads of the federal Andrew Scheer (CPC) and Jagmeet Singh (NDP).
“How?” and “Why?”
Google is recognized for his research beginning with “how” and “why”. This year, Canadians have wanted to know how hurricanes were named, how to build glasses to observe the solar eclipse, or even how to buy a bitcoin.
They are also questioned on the reasons behind the protests of the NFL players, on the reason that explains the high number of hurricanes and the independence claims in Catalonia.
