An elderly man that was lost in the forest roads of the Laurentians has been found safe by police Saturday morning.

He was stuck with his car and was out of gas. It was disoriented.

“He was able to contact us at about 5: 45 a.m. on Saturday morning to get assistance. However, it was unable to provide a few indications that this is the place where he was”, explained the spokesman of the Sûreté du Québec, Ann Mathieu, in a press release.

The man of 82 years, living in Morin-Heights, was stuck in a forest path in the sector of Lac-Marguerite, in the north of the Baskatong reservoir, in the Hautes-Laurentides.

Thanks to cross-checks and an investigation quickly, the police were able to identify an area where it could be.

The man was found around 11 a.m. by police officers from the MRC of the Vallée-de-la-Gatineau. “They lost, on foot, (it was) about three kilometres from his vehicle”, said Ms Mathieu.

If it had not been for the quick intervention of the police, the man will have died of cold.

He was taken to a hospital, where his condition did not inspire any fear.
