OTTAWA | The legal proceedings of the former consul general of Canada in Miami Roxanne Dubé for the release of her teen accused of murder in Florida have been ruined financially.

She has had to spend 215 000 $ just in legal fees, according to a decision published on the 1st of December by the Ontario superior Court concerning child support.

At the age of 15 years, Marc Wabafiyebazu had been arrested in Miami on march 30, 2015, following a shooting in which his brother John Wabafiyebazu, 17-year-old, and another individual, Joshua Wright, had lost his life.

The authorities do not believe that Marc Wabafiyebazu, who was acting as lookout in a vehicle, is directly responsible for the death of the two men. However, according to the law in florida, anyone who is involved in a crime during which someone dies can be charged with murder.

In addition to legal fees, Ms. Dubé has disbursed $ 15,000 for the funeral of his son, John, reported the Ottawa Sun. The diplomat has also had to sell his house in Ottawa, take a line of credit of $ 45,000, a loan of $ 40,000 from her employer and make loans of 28 $ 500 on credit cards.

To this are added a monthly fee of $ 1800 for the rent and $ 500 for the care of Marc, owned by the State, as well as a maintenance of 2400 $ for the father of two children, German Wabafiyebazu.

In February 2016, Marc Wabafiyebazu has pleaded guilty to charges reduced, avoiding jail time. However, it has been required to participate in a camp for reintegration (boot camp).

The teen is back in Canada since September of 2016.

Roxanne Dubé is currently working for the canadian department of foreign Affairs, where she receives an annual salary of 148 000 $.
