A coyote was reportedly seen by a motorist in the district of Saint-Michel on Wednesday night.

It is at the intersection of rue Saint-Michel et Champdoré that the animal would have made his ride.

This is not the first time that a coyote is walking in the streets of the metropolis. In December, students would have seen prowling near their school.

The SPCA has responded by explaining that if the animals were more visible in urban areas in the last few years, it was because of the development of the city “destroyed, inexorably, to the natural habitat of the coyotes”.

The City of Montreal has a section on its website which explains how to coexist with this species. According to the City, the coyotes would not be a threat to the population. “The majority of animals seek to avoid confrontations with humans, and it is unusual for the coyotes not to be afraid of humans,” one can read on the site.
