Look at this article
While Quebec is recovering from a wave of intense cold, the Australia must rather deal with a heat so overwhelming that it is downright melt the roads.
In the last few days, a portion of the highway from Sydney to Melbourne was severely affected by temperatures in excess of 40 degrees Celsius.

In fact, it is the tar present in the asphalt that has this reaction at temperatures as intense.
So much so that the police Service of the State of Victoria has deemed it necessary to inform the public that delays were to be expected. “The police are warning motorists to expect delays and avoid the right hand lane of the Hume Freeway (to the city) near Broadford as a road section of 10 km is melting “, one can read in a Twitter message posted last Friday.
