QUEBEC | The breakage of a sprinkler occurred in the national Assembly, would force the relocation of the offices of several mps, including the leader of the Parti québécois, Jean-François Lisée.

The breakdown is occurred on the 29th of December last, while the vast majority of employees of the national Assembly and political parties were on leave.

The leak arose in the fourth and last floor, in the gym reserved for members of parliament, before spreading to the lower levels, to the basement.

A dozen offices of members have been affected. The renovation could take several weeks or even a few months, believes the national Assembly.

The members of the Parti québécois are the most affected, followed by those of the Coalition avenir Québec. The office of the chief government whip, Nicole Ménard, also had to be evacuated.

During a site visit on Monday, several fans went to full speed to dry the floors and walls. A strong smell of humidity prevailed on most of the floors.

The national Assembly was not yet able, Monday, to provide an estimate of the cost of the renovations. An analysis will be performed to know the exact causes of breakage.
