    MONTREAL | snow removal operations launched across the province last week following the latest dump of snow is barely completed, is already a new storm is about to make its entrance in Quebec.

    In a weather report special, Environment Canada predicted that a winter storm, caused by a low pressure system originating from Colorado, will pass through the province from Monday afternoon until Wednesday.

    According to the federal agency, the precipitation will begin as snow before changing into freezing rain during the night of Monday to Tuesday in the south of the province.

    “The freezing rain will persist for many hours along the valley of the St. Lawrence river. It would continue until Tuesday afternoon, according to the sectors,” warned Environment Canada, which states that between 5 and 10 mm of freezing rain will fall on the Ottawa river, Montreal and its surrounding area, the Mauricie and the Québec city area.

    In the absence of having the ice storm, the inhabitants of the centre and east of Quebec can expect to receive “significant amounts of snow accompanied by strong winds and blowing snow,” said Environment Canada.

    “This storm should result in difficult road conditions. Please consider postponing travel considered non-core,” added the organization.
