KAMLOOPS, b.c.- A former police officer of the royal Canadian mounted police (RCMP) was convicted of assaulting indecently five teenagers while he was a coach of minor hockey and baseball in British Columbia, in the 1970s and 1980s.

Alan John Davidson, 62 years old, was also acquitted of two other counts of indecent assault, one can read in the decision of the justice Sheri Ann Donegan of the supreme Court of British Columbia.

The RCMP had arrested the man in 2014. This is a man who had approached the authorities to complain about being sexually assaulted by his coach and hockey, to Clearwater, British Columbia, in the early 1980s. The investigation then led police in Alberta and Saskatchewan where he was also a police officer.

During her trial in September in Kamloops, British Columbia, the plaintiffs testified that the assaults included sexual touching and oral sex. A publication ban protects their identity. They were mostly in their early adolescence at the time of the assault.
