In order to encourage Quebecers to come and study in the region, the Cégep de Rivière-du-Loup offers new students the residence free of charge and $ 500 per session.
“Our goal is to bring our region to be more interesting and this is indeed what will happen,” said Jérémie Pouliot, assistant director of studies at the Cégep de Rivière-du-Loup, in an interview with Mario Dumont, LCN.
The offer includes a couple of conditions, but allows students substantial savings.
To be eligible, students must not come from the Bas-Saint-Laurent and apply in a program that does not offer in their region of origin.
“It is to recover young people who do not have access to desired programs in their region and who want to come and study,” said Mr. Pouliot.
In addition to the residence free for the first year, so for 9 and a half months, students will receive a $ 500 after each completed session, or a maximum of $ 2000 for a pre-university program and $ 3000 for a technical program.
“Students tell us that a house free for an entire year it seems to be in a budget,” said the assistant director of studies at the Cégep de Rivière-du-Loup.
