A hair salon in the sector of Pont-Viau, Laval, has suffered major damage due to a fire, Saturday.

The fire department, Laval has received the call at 18 h 32 to intervene in 1140, boulevard des Laurentides.

Firefighters were able to contain the fire within an hour after receiving the call, said Guy Dussault Junior, chief operations, adding that the fire was confined to the trade only. The adjacent building has been evacuated as a precautionary measure.

The fire required a second alarm. In total, 32 firefighters were dispatched to the scene.

No one was injured. The damages are assessed at about $20,000.

The cause of the fire was not yet known in the evening but did not appear to be criminal in nature, according to the head Dussault.
