RICHMOND | A fire completely destroyed a residential building of the rue Principale Nord, Richmond, in Estrie, Thursday evening.

Thursday evening, at 22: 55, the fire safety Service of the Richmond area (SSIRR) has received a call for a general alarm at 414 Main street North. The arrival of the fire department, two of the three units of the building were engulfed in flames.

The fire had to rescue a woman stuck in the slot and disoriented because of the smoke. Three other people have had to evacuate the building, according to Steve St-Laurent, SSIRR.

The fire has spread inside the walls and in the attic, which has complicated the response for firefighters. The building, which also housed a store closed recently, is a total loss.

The cause of the fire is currently unknown to the SSIRR, who is conducting an investigation with the assistance of the Sûreté du Québec. The 20 firefighters of the brigade of Richmond have all been mobilized to fight the fire.
