A child was killed Thursday in Wemindji, in Nord-du-Québec.

According to the information that circulated, a person has been arrested, but we don’t know his relationship with the victim.

“We don’t have details regarding the sex and age of the victim, nor that of the person who has been apprehended”, said the agent, Louis-Philippe Bibeau of the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).

According to information obtained by TVA Nouvelles, it would be a young girl of 10 years.

The SQ was called to intervene on Thursday by the regional police force in Eeyou-Eenou to investigate this matter. Investigators of crimes against the person and of the service of criminal identification of the SQ have been dispatched on the spot.

They had to interrogate the person arrested in connection with this murder, which shakes the cree community of Wemindji.
