MONTREAL – A fire broke out in a commercial building of two floors, in the night of Sunday to Monday, near the corner of Foucher on the boulevard Crémazie in Montreal.
The flames started around 2: 20. The firefighters arrived, thick smoke was pouring from the basement.
Quickly, the fire spread to the first and the second floor. The commercial building, which hosts among other things a nursery, was empty at the time of the fire.
A fourplex, located to the side of the building, was evacuated as a precautionary measure.
About 120 firefighters have been mobilized to combat the fire that was still ongoing early Monday morning.
The Crémazie boulevard was closed in both directions, between rue St-Hubert and Lajeunesse.
