MONTREAL – A dispute between two men escalated into attempted murder, in the night from Wednesday to Thursday, in the borough of Rosemont-Petite-Patrie in Montreal.
The event occurred a little after midnight, at the corner of Chambly and Rachel, when there was an altercation between two men. During the quarrel, one of them took out a firearm and shot the victim, a 29-year old man.
The latter was rushed to the hospital to treat a wound to the upper body. His state of health is deemed serious.
The suspect fled on foot before the police arrived.
The reason for the aggression remains to be determined “but the hypothesis of a transaction of narcotic drugs that would have turned out badly is being considered by investigators,” said Raphael Bergeron, a spokesperson for the SPVM.
A dog handler was sent to the scene to try to gather evidence, while investigators went on-site to analyze the scene.
