A dog died after it was placed, on the insistent demand of a member of the crew, in a baggage compartment above a passenger plane of company United Airlines linking Houston to New York.

The american company has acknowledged its responsibility in this accident, which took place on Monday, asserting that the bulldog French would never have had to be there.

“This is a tragic accident that never should happen,” said the company in a press release, expressing its “deep condolences to the family.”

The owner of the dog came in the plane with two children, including a baby, and the animal in a carrier bag. He was then asked to place the dog in the luggage compartment, according to the testimony of the New York Times Maggie Gremminger, 30 years old, who was sitting behind.

“The owner implored not to put the bag above,” said Maggie Gremminger. “She said” My dog is inside, no, it’s my dog. In response, the crew member continued to ask him to do it because it was a danger there where it was, that it was an emergency exit, which could drag”, according to this witness.

This accident is likely to attract further criticism to the american airline company. Last year, an american doctor, 69-year-old had been out manu militari a flight overbooked of the company in spite of her entreaties. The video of the scene, filmed by mobile phone, had become viral on social networks. In the Face of the outcry, the company had come to apologize.

United Airlines was also criticised in march 2017 to have repressed two teenage girls wearing leggings for the reason that they had to observe certain dress codes because it they were travelling with airline ticket free.
