LAC-MÉGANTIC | barely a year after being reach buy a house in Lac-Mégantic, a mother of a family found itself forced to abandon it due to the proliferation of fungi in the home.
Maryse Fréchette and his two children can simply no longer live in their new home. “There are two to three kinds of mushrooms in all parts of the house. You can’t live here, it is a house with an air quality unbearable,” said the owner in an interview with TVA News.

In November 2016, Ms. Fréchette buys the house on the rue Saint-Jean, in the sector Frontenac, which she has visited on three occasions in the company of the former owner. Convinced that it was the right house for her and her family, she is acquiring out of the house, without, however, having it inspected. “She is really beautiful from the outside. Really beautiful also from the inside, but the mold were invisible at the time I visited the house,” she said.
Serious health problems
Over the weeks, serious health problems have occurred in all members of the family. The little Rosie, 3 years old, has been the most affected. “She was admitted to hospital in April for a double pneumonia, a bronchospasm, and pharyngitis. When she was admitted to the hospital, they put her oxygen mask because she was really not well. We have had a fear of losing,” explained the mother of the family, visibly shaken.

A decontamination of the remains is not feasible, because it would be too expensive. In addition, no company now wants to ensure the home of Mrs. Fréchette.
The owner has already invested $ 67,000 for the acquisition of his house. The bank is now demanding that she repay by next February the balance of her mortgage loan, which amounts to 26 000 $.
