Lewis Hamilton, of Mercedes, has won on Sunday the Grand Prix of Belgium Formula One, scoring a fifth victory this season.

He was ahead by 2.4 seconds in the Ferrari and Sebastian Vettel, and by the 10.8 seconds the Red Bull of Daniel Ricciardo.

“I was waiting for a mistake by Lewis and it is not coming,” Vettel said.

With about 10 laps to race, the German came close to snatch the lead at the British, placing himself at her side in a long passage right. Hamilton, however, has managed to take the turn in first, narrowly.

“I’m not entirely happy,” said Vettel, telling that he has a little evil approached the turn.

In the drivers ‘ standings, ahead of Vettel stands at seven points ahead of Hamilton, who was in his 200th race in career.

“A solid weekend for me and the team,” said Hamilton. I am very grateful for all the hard work that has been done. “

Vettel has four wins and as many second places. Hamilton was twice awarded the second position.

“I would say that our pace has been very good,” said Vettel. I am looking forward to the next race [the Grand Prix of Italy at Monza, next weekend]. “

Ricciardo finished third for the fifth time this year. It has established itself in Azerbaijan, in the month of June.

Stroll 11th

The Quebec Lance Stroll has finished 11th at the wheel of his Williams.

“We arrived just short of the points and it is a pity, but it was still a good race,” said Stroll. I suffered a bit of damage in excess of Kevin Magnussen [Ferrari]. A part of the front wing was broken and thereafter, it was mostly a matter of bringing the car to the destination. I couldn’t really attack. “

Kimi Raikkonen has finished fourth in his Ferrari, ahead of the Mercedes of Valtteri Bottas.

The top 10 was completed by Nico Hulkenberg (Renault), Romain Grosjean (Haas), Felipe Massa (Williams), Esteban Ake (Force India) and Carlos Sainz (Toro Rosso).

Located in the forest region in the Ardennes, the circuit Spa is the longest in Formula One, 7 km away.

A collision between Ake and Sergio Perez of Force India has sowed the debris on the track in the 30th round (44), leading to the presence of the safety car for four laps.

Still without a win this season, the young Max Verstappen is to continue to be patient : his race ended in the eighth round, Red Bull not advancing more.

His best result of the season back in April with a third place in China.

The race has also been frustrating for Fernando Alonso, the champion of Formula One in 2005 and 2006. He went 10th, but his McLaren did not give the desired performance.

The day Alonso took the end of the 26th lap, his car having too much trouble with the Honda engines.
