The mother of a 55 year old male who was allegedly stabbed and killed by his elder brother to Montreal on Saturday is shocked and can’t understand how his two sons were able to get there.
“They chicanaient sometimes, but aside from that, they have never beaten. It was just words… I don’t understand what happened, ” says Marie Després, 89 years old, still shaken by the events that have taken place under her eyes, at her home.
His son Réal Després, 61, is accused of second-degree murder of his brother Yves, 55 years old. He briefly appeared in court by video conference on Monday at the palais de justice of Montreal.

Impassive, he did not flinch when he learned that he will remain detained pending his next hearing scheduled in two weeks.
Attack with a knife
The tragedy happened late Saturday afternoon in the family apartment located at the intersection of Beaudry street and de Maisonneuve boulevard.
The two brothers lived together with their mother, who now finds himself single.
“I was here. I’ve heard them disagree with each other. Then Real came out of his room. Yves was in the entrance, it was bleeding. He had been stung, ” says the lady.
According to her, the alleged perpetrator would himself have called the police to denounce after having stabbed his younger brother in the upper body.
The victim, who lay in a critical state in the entry, was transported to the hospital where his death was recorded.
“The police did not let me get near him to say goodbye. It makes me a lot of trouble, ” said the woman, who has already lost a son about ten years ago.
The precise reasons for the assault remain to be determined, said the Police Department of the City of Montreal.
She is the only one
Two distant cousin of the brothers were in Ms. Despres on Monday to help him. They are concerned about, among other things, see to stay at home alone.

Yves Després had a criminal record loaded. He was found guilty of theft, harassment and had been jailed a few months in 2007 for drug possession.
The alleged abuser will have to make an application to the Quebec superior Court if he wishes to be freed by his trial.
