For the past month, several golfers in the golf Club Oasis, Lachute in the Laurentians, saw a Canada goose who has the body pierced by an arrow.
“Many people talk to me and are sad with it”, communicates Brigitte Rodrigue, an employee of the golf Club.
According to her, three pairs of canada geese nest currently at the golf Club with their young and will kick off this fall. When she knew that a bustard is wounded by an arrow, she was upset.
“It hurts me to see it. I consider them as my babies. For me, animals are precious. I would like the free”, expresses it.
The employee has explained the situation on social networks. She has also contacted the police to report the poaching.
“It must be someone from the area who knew where to find great bustards. He wanted to prepare a good supper, but he missed his shot”, does it.
According to Ms. Rodrigue, the department of Wildlife has been notified, but it is still not intervened to remove the arrow.
“We can do nothing. We do not know how to remove the arrow,” says Ms. Rodrigue.
In spite of everything, the goose walks with his family and does not seem to suffer unduly. In Quebec, the hunting of geese is permitted in autumn only.
