A man arrested for inciting hatred against muslims

    A resident of Quebec, was arrested and charged for inciting public hatred and threat toward the muslim community in the wake of comments made on social networks.

    Nicolas Thériault, a man of 46 years old, was arrested on Friday by the police Department of the City of Quebec. He has appeared on Saturday morning at the palace of justice of Quebec.

    The individual would be at the origin of a message inciting hatred against the muslim community. According to the SPVQ, the comments were spotted by a specialized team of the royal Canadian mounted police, which has immediately passed the information on to.

    “Research carried out by the criminal intelligence unit of the SPVQ, the suspect who sent the message has been identified. The latter was subsequently located and placed under arrest,” said Melissa Cliche of the police.

    The suspect remained detained for the night.

    Joint in the middle of the afternoon, on Saturday, the islamic cultural Centre of Quebec, who has been the target of hateful acts in the past, was unaware of the nature of the comments and was trying to learn more about the events.
