A car driver of 20 years lost his life on Monday night when his car was involved in an accident with a truck carrying the snow in the borough of Saint-Léonard in Montreal.

According to initial information available, the accident occurred around 22: 15 on the corner of boulevard Lacordaire and des Grandes-Prairies when, for an unknown reason the two vehicles collided.

Witnesses reported that the truck was travelling westbound on the boulevard des Grandes-Prairies when the accident occurred. The car drove towards the east and made a turn to the north before hitting the heavy vehicle.

The death of the driver of the car was found on the spot, said the spokesperson for the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) Caroline Chèvrefils.

The operator of the truck, a man of 37 years old, suffered a nervous shock, but did not need to be transported to the hospital.

The circumstances of the accident remained to be determined at the end of the evening. A security perimeter has been erected to enable investigators to assess the scene, which has resulted in some closures of the two boulevards.

The boulevard Lacordaire has been closed between the boulevards Sewing and Industrial, while the boulevard des Grandes-Prairies was inaccessible between the streets Puyseaux and the Prado. They were reopened to traffic around 7 h.

Recall that the third operation of the loading of the snow of the season in the montreal area has been set in motion Monday night at the stroke of 19 h.
