A mother who removed her daughter’s account to plead guilty

    SHAWINIGAN – Mélanie Gougeon, 35 year old woman accused of abducting her own daughter last spring, announced Monday morning at the courthouse in Shawinigan have intention to recognize his guilt. His case was postponed to 9 April next.

    On may 19, 2017, Gougeon presented at her former spouse in the middle of the night, around 4 a.m., to see his daughter, who is 7 years old.

    The father of the child, who has sole custody, has refused to open to his ex-wife and asked him to come back later.

    Mélanie Gougeon eventually left, only to return 30 minutes later with her new boyfriend, who has broken down the door of the apartment. The couple came to force and returned with the little girl.

    Police officers of the Sûreté du Québec had quickly found and arrested the kidnappers.

    The little friend by Mélanie Gougeon, Yohann Thibault Crichlow, has pleaded guilty to charges of kidnapping last July. He was sentenced to 30 months in penitentiary.
