SAINTE-JULIE | A motorist swerved that cost him his life, Saturday night, on highway 20 near Sainte-Julie, in Montérégie.

The man, in his mid-twenties, was the sole occupant of his vehicle, which was travelling in a westerly direction. At kilometre 102, he lost control of his vehicle and left the roadway to hit the pillar of a bridge, to 21.15.

“He was conscious at the arrival of relief, but after arriving at the hospital, his death has been found,” said sergeant Claude Denis of the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).

In attempting to understand the causes of the accident, the police have noted the lack of marks from braking on the pavement.

“He may be asleep, it is an assumption that we have”, said Mr. Denis.

One of the two lanes of the motorway was closed at the height of the path of the Horse-shoe for nearly an hour and a half because of the accident.
