The accident happened while the driver was committed on route 138. She found herself in the unfortunate position, stuck in the side of the road with the heavy truck completely down on his car.

“According to preliminary information gathered, the driver of the car, a forty-something woman alone on board, would have been struck by the heavy vehicle travelling on route 138, at the time thereof, leaving the street Industrial, would be engaged,” said Ann Mathieu, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec.

The motorist has been seriously injured, while the driver of the truck came out without a scratch.

Police officers from the SQ have praised the work of a déneigeur who was passing by, and that has facilitated the emergency response by stabilizing the semi-trailer with his shovel. “It has allowed them to secure the vehicle of the lady during the intervention”, said Ms. Mathew.

A specialist in survey collision has been sent to the site and an investigation of the SQ has been opened.

    Sector issue

The accident Friday morning was not the first to arise in the sector in recent months. On November 27, a woman of 26 years a native of Château-Richer, mishka intex Theberge-Martin, has perished in a violent collision involving three vehicles. The rumble strips plants were finally installed in early December after several months of pressure, including the elected officials of Saint-Tite-des-Caps.

The mayor of the place, Majella Pichette, said he was delighted to see that the rumble strips have been installed, but deplores the fact that the speed is high in the sector. “It is unsettling. It is dangerous because people drive fast and there are residences on each side, it comes out on the road,” says the mayor, pointing out that even if the limit is 90 km/h in the area, it is not uncommon to see motorists pass at around 120 km/h.
