MONTREAL | A seventy-year-old was seriously injured when he was struck by a tractor for snow removal, as of late Tuesday afternoon, on the chemin de la Côte-des-Neiges in the borough of Ville-Marie, Montreal.
The accident occurred around 17: 30 when the pedestrian, a man of 77 years old, wanted to cross the chemin de la Côte-des-Neiges to the south. He was then snapped up by the heavy vehicle, which travelled on the way to Lookout point to the west, reported Caroline Chèvrefil, a spokesperson for the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM).
The pedestrian “was injured at the top and bottom of the body,” said the spokesperson. Taken to the hospital, he was in a critical state in the middle of the evening.
The operator of the tractor, a man of 69 years old, was not injured in the accident.
Investigators from the SPVM have been sent to the scene to meet witnesses of the accident and to try to understand the cause. The chemin Côte-des-Neiges was closed, time to let the investigators do their job.
