    A school bus driver, 66-year-old was arrested Friday in Saint-Donat because he was likely drunk then as he was about to drive the students home.

    It was about 15: 30 when an employee of the secondary school, Sacred Heart, situated on the street of the College, has noticed that the driver smelled strongly of alcohol. With the help of a colleague, the woman made out the students from the bus and taken to the school gym.

    Employees were assured that the driver does not leave the premises, before contacting 911.

    “The man was arrested for care and control of a vehicle while impaired “, said the sergente Eloise Cossette, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec.

    Zero tolerance

    Louis Côté, a resident of St. Donat’s, was taken to the station where he failed a breathalyzer test, according to police. He was released with a promise to appear in court, scheduled for this summer.

    His boss was fired on Friday, citing a “zero tolerance” for this type of behavior.

    “It is far from the image that one wishes to give to the transport industry school “, says his supervisor, who requested that we keep silent his name and that of his company in order to avoid the negative impacts.

    The Commission scolaire des Laurentides has strongly deplored the act of the driver and immediately requested her employer to withdraw the transportation of students.
