A 40 year old man known in his neighborhood for his drug problems and mental health could be accused of the murder of his father after being taken to him on Saturday evening in Saint-Jérôme.

The victim is 60 years of age, Daniel Robert was described by his entourage as a loving father who wanted to help his son. However, the behavior of the latter had changed over the last few months due to ” serious problems of consumption “, according to neighbours in shock.

“This is a quiet home, good parents who loved their child and wanted to help. […] But they did not speak of it, tells of a neighbor who knows them for several years, but who has requested anonymity. This was not someone to be stable, it had problems, schizophrenia, and drug. “

She states that it was not uncommon to hear the victim’s son freaking out against his parents.

She was not able to confirm if he lived there full-time, but it was often in their house, rue Brière.

“We heard it so often cry, without reason. There has never been a problem with it, but one can never know what can happen, ” said Daniel Rioux, another neighbour.

Severely injured

The officers of the service de police de Saint-Jérôme have been called to 18 h 30 Saturday for a 60-year old man seriously injured on the premises of a residence in Saint-Jérôme.

A 40 year old man whose identity has not been revealed Sunday has been apprehended on the scene by the police.

“He was covered in blood on the face and torso, but it seemed not to be seriously injured. He was in a state of hysteria and very aggressive towards the officers who were arresting, ” says Sylvain Gravel.

Daniel Robert was transported to a hospital in the region of St-Jerome, where his death has been found.

His body showed traces apparent of violence, said the Safety of Québec (SQ), which is in charge of the investigation. An autopsy will be performed on the victim to determine the exact causes of his death. The pattern of what is considered murder is not yet known.
