EDMONTON – The Edmonton police commended, on Tuesday, a young boy for his presence of mind, which has helped prevent the abduction of his little sister of five years, on Saturday night.

In a statement, the police explained that the girl was cycling on the outside, with his elder brother, to 20: 15 p.m., when a man approached. He then put the hand on the handlebar of the bike, before you lead the girl.

Seeing this, the boy responded by fleeing on foot, rushing at him. Members of the family rushed in the direction taken by the alleged kidnapper. They found the little girl a few minutes later, safe and sound.

The suspect, Dusty, Greg Chalifoux, 37 years old, was arrested a little later, in the neighborhood. He was accused of having attempted to abduct a child under 14 years of age.

The Edmonton police pointed out that the boy has fully reacted during the attempted abduction. “He followed his instinct and did the right thing in current home to warn his family. I encourage all parents to talk to their children about what to do if they are approached by a stranger,” said the detective Manual Illner, division of child protection of the Edmonton police.
