SEBASTIAN, FLORIDA|, A police officer was accused of cruelty to an animal after his police dog was found dead in his vehicle in the sun.
The incident took place during a hot day in the month of April to Sebastian, Florida.
A member of the canine unit of the police of the city, Eric Antosia had found the dead animal on his way home in the evening.
“I’m calling to you of the case of an animal left in a vehicle. It is death,” one can hear in his 911 call.
According to CNN, the outside temperature was 31 degrees that day and the temperature in the cabin had certainly to exceed 42 degrees quickly.
The agent Antosia was suspended without pay on Thursday after the charges were laid.
“What kind of mischief can have a year of prison and 1000 dollar fine. But I don’t think it will happen in this folder,” said Me Steve Casanova.
For this criminal lawyer interviewed by CNN, the police officer had no real intention of wanting to hurt the animal.
“It’s definitely going to receive a summons to appear. But he will not be arrested or put in prison.”
It should, therefore, remain on probation for a time with a ban from working with animals.
