Cities must adapt to the reality of winter and the administration Plant acknowledged Sunday that Montreal will have to do better on the loading of the snow and ice.

Even the mayor of Montreal was no exception and fell Sunday. “I slipped this morning on a sidewalk. As the abrasive, it has put a lot, but more is still needed”, she confessed.

The loading of snow starting Sunday evening has been declared on the later. Jean-François Parenteau, head of the case, has admitted and apologized on Twitter.

“The thaw is not as great and the build scheduled for Monday is no more-you. In hindsight we would have been able to enact before. This was a bad choice on my part and I apologize,” he wrote on Saturday night.

“I think it shows especially that mr. Parenteau is aware of the impact on the population […] it has all my confidence,” said the mayor Plant.

The City had the intention to leave to melt the snow and ice accumulating as a result of warmer weather forecasted for Saturday, but Sunday morning, the sidewalks and the roads were still slippery.

“The weather forecast that was announced, spoke of a thaw that would allow us to not necessarily do a loading which, as I mentioned, costs 15 million dollars”, she said.

The fifth operation of the loading of snow since the beginning of winter has begun to 19 pm Sunday night for the whole of the montreal territory.

Montreal has more than 6000 km of sidewalks and 4,000 km of streets.
