The two largest airlines in Canada are not included in the world ranking of the 20 carriers with the highest spot in 2017.

According to data published Friday by the aviation consultant OAG, Air Canada last year reached a level of punctuality of 67,32 %, while WestJet posted a performance of 76,18 %.

Overall, the airline the most punctual on the planet is AirBaltic, which 90,01 % of the flights take off from or arise in time.

The ranking compiled by OAG based on the data of 57 million flights operated by 250 largest carriers in the world. The aviation consultant considers that a device is in the time it takes off or lands with less than 15 minutes late.

For North America only, the palm of punctuality returns to the u.s. Hawaiian Airlines, whose flights are scheduled to depart or arrive on time in a proportion of 87,24 %.

Unlike Air Canada, WestJet was able to break the top 10 north american, finishing ninth. The company is also the 15th largest low-cost carrier, a fall compared to its sixth position in 2016.

In evaluating the 20 largest airlines in the world, Air Canada points in 17th place with a ranking dominated by Japan Airlines (85,27 %).
