Alberta: voting on the merger of the conservative parties

    EDMONTON | the result of The vote concerning the union of the party Wildrose and the Association of the progressive conservative of Alberta will be known Saturday, in the early evening.

    The members of the Wildrose, led by Brian John, will vote in the day on the future of the party. Their decision should be announced in the late afternoon. At least 75 % of members must approve the motion for it to be accepted.

    On the side of the progressive conservatives, who have begun voting on Thursday, voting will end also on Saturday. Their leader, Jason Kenney, is expected to announce the result in early evening. At least 50% of the votes must be in favor of the merger for it to be endorsed.

    The mandate to initiate the process of fusion of the conservative parties in the Alberta has been appointed to Kenney, in July last, by the members of his party.

    The former canadian minister of Defence has left federal politics after being elected leader of the Association, progressive conservative Alberta, in march last.
