QUEBEC – support payments will be indexed by 1.5 % as of the first January, said the department of Justice on Thursday.
Since 1988, the civil Code of Québec provides for the automatic indexation of the alimony on the 1st of January of each year in order to follow the evolution of the cost of living.
The automatic indexation applies to all judgments granting alimony, unless the judge decided otherwise.
Last year, the indexation of pensions in food was determined to be 1.2 %.
