Mr. Kang, who is member of parliament for the federal riding of Calgary Skyview, Alberta, has issued a statement explaining that it will focus its efforts to restore his reputation, as he denies all the allegations made in its place.
“I am grateful that the Parliament has provided for a regular procedure and a policy that is fair and objective to resolve this issue, wrote Mr. Kang in his statement confirming his resignation from the caucus of the liberal Party of Canada (LPC). I am also grateful to have the opportunity to give my point of view to the independent investigator the principal Office of the human resources of the Parliament.”
The member indicates that he does not want to be a distraction for the liberal government.
The “Toronto Star” revealed Tuesday that Darshan Kang have offered $ 100,000 to one of its employees, who alleged that she was sexually harassed by him. The daily ontario noted that the member would have snared an employee against his consent, would have caressed his hand when travelling by car and would have walked by taxi to his apartment in Ottawa to offer him wine and try to remove his vest.
To cover his actions, which reportedly took place over a period of five years, Darshan Kang had attempted to buy his silence, according to the assertions emanating from the father of the alleged victim.
In an email sent to the “Journal de Montréal”, Darshan Kang had stated in the beginning of the week to be off sick because of the stress induced by these allegations of sexual harassment.
“I can’t comment directly on the ongoing investigation, but I continued to proclaim my innocence and I will defend my reputation at all costs,” he said in English at a montreal newspaper.
