TORONTO – the subject of allegations of sexual harassment by two women, the leader of the conservative party of Ontario, Patrick Brown, has strongly denied these assertions, Wednesday evening.
During a press briefing convened at the last minute at the end of the night, the leader of the opposition has said that the “allegations troubling” to are “completely false”.
“I can’t speculate on the motives of my accusers. I can only say that what they say is completely false,” he added, visibly shaken, in a brief statement at Queen’s Park where he has not responded to journalists ‘ questions.
“My values are that we need to put an end to sexual harassment, both in Ontario, Canada”, he added.
The politician also said, saying be aware that the “court of public opinion” is quickly, that it was going to work with his lawyers to bring this case before the courts, thereby implying that he could sue his accusers.
Resignations
In response to these allegations, three relatives of the chief of party have tendered their resignation.
“Earlier today, we were made aware of allegations against Patrick Brown. After he spoke, our advice was that he resigned as leader of the progressive conservative Party. He did not follow this advice”, said the head of campaign Andrew Boddington, the secretary-general Alykhan Velshi, and the deputy chief of campaign Dan Robertson, in a statement justifying their decision to leave their duties.
Two of the victims
In an interview with CTV News, two women have alleged that the politician would have engaged in acts of sexual impropriety while he was a conservative mp in Ottawa, between 2006 and 2015. One of the alleged victims has claimed that the leader of the conservatives would have asked her to make him a blowjob while she was a minor, while the second indicated that she was sexually assaulted by the politician when she had organised an event in his company.
The current leader of the opposition was tipped to deliver a hot fight, to the current premier of Ontario, liberal Kathleen Wynne, during the elections that will take place during the spring of 2018.
Nova Scotia
Earlier in the day, the leader of the progressive conservative Party of Nova Scotia, Jamie Baillie, has resigned from his post due to allegations of inappropriate behaviour. His party explained, by asking him to resign after having taken knowledge of the report of the investigation of a third party that has analyzed the allegations.
The main party had indicated on his Twitter account, to resign for “personal reasons”, without giving more information.
